According to Zagreb local media, books about Chinese traditional culture, folk customs and language, as well as children's tales sold the best. A young Croatian told a journalist that he wanted to buy Chinese nursery books for his eight-month old daughter.
"I hope she can get in touch with the beautiful but difficult Chinese language as early as possible, maybe she can work as a Chinese translator when she grows up," he said.
In addition to exhibiting all kinds of Chinese books, the company also set up a cooperation corner. Visitors can learn Chinese painting as well as paper folding, and do scientific experiments with the help of Chinese staff members.
The Confucius Institute of the University of Zagreb also occupies an exhibition booth. Teachers from the institute opened a free Chinese class, teaching visitors Weiqi and Chinese calligraphy, which attracted many locals who learned to write their names in Chinese.
