Chinese Ministry of Culture held a regular press conference on Wednesday. Officials reported the working situation in the second quarter of 2015, and notified their recent cultural policies as well as key projects in the second half of the year.
New policy to foster small and micro cultural enterprises
Shi Junling, the Deputy Director-General of Cultural Industries Division of the ministry, said that the ministry published Work Program on Supporting the Development of Small and Micro Cultural Enterprises on May 19, which is aimed on solving problems for such enterprises.
The work program proposed six key tasks to support the development of small and micro cultural enterprises: to enhance the policy implementation and working level of the governments at all levels; to offer more training for enterprise management and brand building; to build a better public service plant form; to encourage financial innovation and broaden financing channels; to research on the situation and policy needs of the companies; to create a good atmosphere with public opinion for innovativecultural enterprises.
According to Shi, the ministry will aim to optimize the environment for cultural creativity, encourage the growth of innovation in small and micro enterprises, foster a group of promising cultural brands, and form a lively and innovative atmosphere in the field of cultural industries.

Overseas cultural centers become highlight
Xie Jinying, the Head of Bureau for External Cultural Relations of the ministry, told journalists at the conference that frequent activities were held in overseas Chinese culture centers which have successfully attracted locals.
According to Xie, in the first half of the year, the ministry cooperated with provincial cultural institutions to promote its "Going Out"strategy. Qinghai Cultural Week, Shandong Cultural Week and Guizhou Cultural Week were successively held in Chinese cultural centers in Nigeria, Seoul, Bangkok and Moscow.
Meanwhile, the overseas cultural centers recommended more books in the past six months on Chinese politics, economy, culture, and society than before, and organized more reading activities in different countries.
In addition, overseas cultural centers held physical activities along with Chinese cultural weeks. In Mauritius, Benin, Malta and Berlin, the cultural centers ran Weiqi (the game of go) tournaments and Tai-chi as well as Chinese Kung Fu.

Young Sinologist training and research program
The Ministry of Culture will release a young Sinologist training and research program with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in order to boost international cultural exchange. The program will be held from July 5-24.
43 young Sinologists from 33 countries will take part in the program. They will attend the lectures by famous Chinese scholars such as Li Yining, Ge Jianxiong and Wang Meng, participate in social activities and have discussions on what they have learned during the training and research in China.
The opening ceremony of Culture City of East Asia—the Year of Qingdao kicked off on March 29.
Run 2015 Culture City of East Asia activities
Culture City Activities have become an established brand among participating countries in East Asia, according to a joint statement issued at the 5th meeting of leaders from China, Japan and South Korea.
In 2015, Qingdao, a beautiful coastal city in Shangdong Province in China, Niigata, a time-honored port city in Honshu in Japan, and Cheongju, the largest city of North Chungcheong Province in South Korea were chosen as the culture cities of East Asia.
The opening ceremony of Culture City of East Asia—the Year of Qingdao kicked off on March 29. In the following months, the Ministry of Culture will cooperate with the municipal government in Qingdao, and ensure that more than 130 cultural activities will go smoothly.
